Com a contribui\u00e7\u00e3o de tr\u00eas pesquisadores do Instituto Capixaba de Pesquisa, Assist\u00eancia T\u00e9cnica e Extens\u00e3o Rural (Incaper), foi lan\u00e7ada a obra \u201cA cultura do meloeiro\u201d, que re\u00fane informa\u00e7\u00f5es essenciais sobre o manejo dessa frut\u00edfera de grande valor comercial e nutricional.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Organizado por um grupo de especialistas de diversas institui\u00e7\u00f5es de ensino e pesquisa do pa\u00eds, o livro aborda aspectos como morfologia, exig\u00eancias edafoclim\u00e1ticas, cultivares, propaga\u00e7\u00e3o, irriga\u00e7\u00e3o, manejo nutricional, pragas, doen\u00e7as, colheita e p\u00f3s-colheita.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Representando o Incaper, os pesquisadores L\u00facio Arantes, Sara Dousseau e Carla Dias, vinculados ao Centro de Pesquisa, Desenvolvimento e Inova\u00e7\u00e3o Norte (CPDI-Norte), integram o time de organizadores da obra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Segundo Sara Dousseau, a iniciativa nasceu da constata\u00e7\u00e3o de uma lacuna na produ\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica sobre o tema. \u201cSentimos a necessidade de reunir, em um \u00fanico documento, informa\u00e7\u00f5es atualizadas e organizadas sobre o meloeiro, justamente pela car\u00eancia de publica\u00e7\u00f5es abrangentes dedicadas exclusivamente a essa cultura\u201d, explicou a pesquisadora.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Embora o meloeiro ainda n\u00e3o seja uma cultura expressiva no Esp\u00edrito Santo, existem experi\u00eancias locais em que o mel\u00e3o \u00e9 utilizado em sistemas consorciados, ocupando o espa\u00e7o entre outras culturas nas entrelinhas, como estrat\u00e9gia de aproveitamento do solo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cA publica\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser uma ferramenta importante para orientar agricultores interessados em diversificar sua produ\u00e7\u00e3o e fonte de renda, al\u00e9m de apoiar a forma\u00e7\u00e3o de estudantes e profissionais da \u00e1rea agr\u00edcola\u201d, refor\u00e7ou Sara.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Cultivo de mel\u00e3o no Brasil<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">O meloeiro, do g\u00eanero<em>Cucumis melo<\/em>, \u00e9 uma planta origin\u00e1ria da \u00c1sia e \u00c1frica, cultivada h\u00e1 milhares de anos. Seus frutos s\u00e3o amplamente consumidos<em>in natura<\/em>e apresentam grande diversidade de formas, cores e sabores.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">No Brasil, o mel\u00e3o tem se consolidado como uma das principais frutas produzidas para exporta\u00e7\u00e3o. Em 2023, o pa\u00eds ocupou a\u00a0quinta\u00a0posi\u00e7\u00e3o no ranking mundial, com produ\u00e7\u00e3o superior a 860 mil toneladas, de acordo com dados da FAO e do IBGE. Os maiores polos produtivos est\u00e3o localizados no Nordeste \u2014 especialmente no Rio Grande do Norte, Bahia e Cear\u00e1 \u2014 onde o clima quente e seco favorece o desenvolvimento da cultura e a qualidade dos frutos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Al\u00e9m de contribuir para a seguran\u00e7a alimentar e gera\u00e7\u00e3o de empregos, o mel\u00e3o movimenta uma cadeia produtiva robusta, com destaque para a exporta\u00e7\u00e3o.
